Memory Lane: Last Moments of Firenze

Here i sit. At home in my American bedroom one summer afternoon, in the exact position that i so desperately feared 3 months ago. Helplessly missing every moment of Italia. We knew the day had to come.. Sadly my time became limited and there's a lot I didn't get the chance to write about! Since all good things must end, the only thing we can do is reminisce. There was Munich and Springfest and so much beer. Can't forget Luigi or GREECE. I can't even disclose that type of information publicly. We managed finals and last minute adventures all at once, and before we knew it our time was up.

^^Noreen supplied champagne and we waited for the last of the finals to officially end. She popped the bottle in Proco that night and it was truly the beginning of the end. We went out with a bang that last weekend with Kelly's birthday, a Marist group dinner, and a night at Fullup entering into my birthday. That brings us to the most bittersweet day of all; the last freakin day! We couldn't fully grasp the reality of everything at the time, but it turned out the best really was saved for last. People go to extreme lengths to make the best possible celebration for their 21st. Mine was simply perfect in and of itself. What an unforgettable day and a great way to cap off the trip. May 11th 2012 is one of the sweetest days of my life as i know it. We started off the sunny gorgeous day each with a panino from our favorite spot and had a picnic at the gardens! I did some exploring, soaking in as much of the surrounding bellezza as i could. It was a hot day so we obv copped some granitas on the walk home. At this point we were all packed up and ready to embrace one last night. The evening began with Giorgio's treat; an awesome birthday dinner on the house. He is the best. Good food and good wine for our last supper #sonecessary. Afterwards, we each brought a bottle of champagne with us to the hill for sunset, but not before getting locked out of the house for 20 minutes. It was a God given sign that we weren't supposed to leave! Enjoyed one last sunset at one of my favorite places in all of Firenze, and we each popped a bottle of champs in our lovely dresses. Of course we had to have one last granita while we were at it! Fragola e limone insieme! We had some last minute fun on the carousel before we enjoyed one last crazy night out! I was touched by each one of my birthday surprises. Take that how you want. We stayed up that entire night and enjoyed every waking moment before making the dreaded return to the motherland. I was ecstatic that my friends Alessio and Andrea came out to say goodbye, but very sad to leave them and everyone else I met in Florence. I'm forever thankful to have closed off such an amazing chapter in my life with my own magical ending. Until next time, ciao Firenze.
